Roberto has extensive experience in high-profile human rights cases, including crimes against humanity, corruption, and transnational crimes such as money laundering and asset recovery. He has acted as legal counsel in cases before both national and international courts, including litigation before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) and the International Criminal Court (ICC), where he was appointed Counsel in 2010. Dr. Durrieu has participated in many of the most significant human rights cases in Latin America and Europe, focusing on holding perpetrators accountable and securing justice for victims of gross human rights violations. His expertise extends to addressing systemic injustices in corporate governance, crypto-related crimes, and financial misconduct, making him a leading figure in complex and sensitive cases.
He holds a DPhil in Law from the University of Oxford, a Doctorate in Juridical Science from the Argentine Catholic University, and a Master’s in Comparative Penal Law from Duke University. He earned his law degree at UCA. In addition to his academic achievements, he has published extensively, authoring five books and over 70 academic articles on topics such as money laundering, corporate governance, and economic crime. Dr. Durrieu has also taught postgraduate courses in criminal and constitutional law at prestigious institutions, including Argentine Catholic University, the University of Buenos Aires, and Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, contributing significantly to the development of criminal and human rights law.
